Northwest String Summit Band Competition Winners!

August 4, 2009 | Dawn

On Friday, July 17th, The Crunchy Western Boys took to the main stage at Horning’s Hideout around 5:00 pm as the first performers at Northwest String Summit’s 8th annual Band Competition. Being first on the roster was not where they wanted to be, little did they know that the position of first was exactly where they would end up. It was the quickest 15 minutes of their professional lives, and their first performance around a single microphone. Four bands were chosen out of the largest number of band submissions to date, and while to competition was stiff, the judges were unanimous in their decision and the Crunchy Western Boys walked away with the title of Northwest String Summit’s Band Competition winners for 2009. As winners of the contest the band was given a 45 minute set on Sunday morning, and has been invited back to perform next year.

The trip to Oregon was fast and furious, it’s a shame my update didn’t follow suit! There has been a lot on our plates since we’ve returned, and it is with great anticipation we move forward after a very successful trip to the Pacific Northwest! There were many reunions between old friends, and many new acquaintances made. The weather was a nice change from what we had been experiencing here in NH. In Oregon we found blue skies, high temps and no humidity. That alone would have been worth the trip. Happily though the trip was so much more than that! Thanks for all of your support in recent months. A special thanks to our dear friend Peter Stackpole for believing in the band and making the trip happen. Also special thanks to Josh Trought at D’Acres for his continued support. To all of our favorite venues, we could not have done it without you. To all our neighbors on the other side of the CT, we hope to make our way back to Vermont very soon. Keep in touch and check www.crunchywesternboys.com often for updates.
